Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Curry, a rising star out of the small town of Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, has been called "the next guitar hero" and "a phenomenal guitarist" by Peter Frampton. On tour recently with Frampton, Matthew has also played with the Steve Miller Band, the Doobie Brothers, Blackberry Smoke and Don Felder. According to Steve Miller, "Matthew Curry is a wonderful guitar player [and] great songwriter in the Stevie Ray Vaughan area of virtuosity and originality."
Now part of the Intrepid Artists label, he has recorded two full-length albums and an EP. He is one of ten featured artists on the Fender Accelerator Tour. They describe Matthew's triple-threat talents as tight songwriting, fiery fretwork and dynamic vocals.
The Steepwater Band
An American rock band formed in Chicago in 1998, they are purveyors of guitar based Americana/rock-and-roll. The Steepwater Band's signature sound is a nod to early British blues, combined with a modern, raw and gutsy musical approach. Singer/guitarist Jeff Massey, bassist Tod Bowers and drummer Joe Winters have a synergy that comes from years of playing together. Guitarist/vocalist Eric Saylors joined the long-time trio bringing an added depth to their sound. The Steepwater Band just released their 6th full-length studio album Shake Your Faith. Although the band got their start as devotees of delta blues, they have since been expanding on their influences, absorbing everything from Psychedelica to Americana, from Jazz to 50's Rock n' Roll Music.
Birdseed is an American rock band formed in 2012 that has been attracting both Gen X and Gen Y fans with their classic Fleetwood Mac-meets-Wilco sound. With an interesting backstory of ordinary moms and dads chasing a teenage dream, Birdseed was formed while their children were studying together at the Bird School of Music in San Francisco. Their songs address adult angst, lost loves, perseverance through pain, and the transcendent power of music.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening is "Irish Greg" McQuaid. Longtime Bay Area personality and a popular voice and producer on KFOG radio for nearly two decades, Irish Greg currently co-produces "Renee and Irish Greg's Pop Up" a bi-monthly podcast and show of live music recorded with a studio audience. Greg is an invaluable resource when it comes to the Bay Area music scene and we're grateful to have him as a supporter in the B&R family.
Help us celebrate the essential work of Bread & Roses--sharing hope and healing through live music with our neighbors most in need.
