Max's Cafe - Local Youth Performers Support Bread & Roses

Special Promotion to Benefit Bread & Roses!

Max's Café in Corte Madera is sponsoring a special Charity Night for Bread & Roses.

The promotion which began in January will enjoy its last night on Saturday, May 12, 7-10pm

Student producer/emcee Ali Macmillan of "Youth Music Cares" will present a special line-up of teen performers from area high schools.

Bread & Roses will receive ten percent of the food/drink sold that evening in addition to the proceeds from a special donations box at the front of the stage.  Funds raised will help support our ongoing program of bringing hope and healing through live music to audiences isolated in Bay Area institutions.

Diners will benefit Bread & Roses by enjoying Max's traditional American food featuring a wide variety of dishes from prime rib to delicious chicken matzoh ball soup.  The restaurant is located at 60 Madera Blvd. in Corte Madera. Phone: 415 924-6297.

Benefit Concert at Slim's with Moonalice

Please join us at Slim's SF for a Bread & Roses Benefit on Friday, January 6. Our friends Moonalice will be playing along with some very special invited guests. This show is the perfect way to start the new year, and you'll be able to tell your friends, "I was there!" You can support Bread & Roses, too. See you there!
Moonalice is a band of seasoned musicians who feel that live music should be a communal experience where the listeners and musicians inspire each other. It includes Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship), John Molo (Bruce Hornsby), Barry Sless (Phil Lesh and Friends), Roger and Ann McNamee (Flying Other Brothers). Their songs speak to everyone, mixing a variety of genres with extended musical improvisations that evoke a sense of adventure and exploration.

Founder's Circle - Fall Appeal

There has never been a more exciting and important time to support our work…

… because you have witnessed the power of live music to transform and inspire in profound and unexpected ways.

… because we urgently need your help to continue our important work.

… because 100% of our board members have contributed to a challenge grant to thank you for your generosity—thereby doubling the impact of your gift.

...and because right now, a gift of any size will make you a founding member of our new Founder’s Circle, established in honor of our founder, Mimi Fariña.

By giving your support to Bread & Roses you have the opportunity to inspire hope, change a life, and bring comfort to those who need it most. And because 100% of our board members have contributed to a challenge grant, your donation will be doubly effective in helping us do our work.  Your support makes such a difference. We look forward to your response and a year of hope, healing and joy.

Bread & Roses Happy Hour

at The Tavern at Lark Creek

Thursday, September 8
5:00 - 8:00 PM

Please join us for a Bread & Roses Happy Hour at The Tavern at Lark Creek in Larkspur.  The Tavern will donate to Bread & Roses all proceeds from the sale of three drinks specially designated for the occasion. There will also be special Bread & Roses tip jars. Look for some familiar faces as a few of our very own board members and staff personally prepare and serve up your drinks!
And as we all know, every occasion is made better with music... and this one's no exception! Bread & Roses volunteer performers, Rant Brothers will provide live music. The Rant Brothers are a Marin County-based acoustic guitar duo featuring Michael Creamer and Tom Holmes, both former members of the Bay Area rock band Chequered Past.
Tell all your friends to come out for a fun evening... relax and unwind while enjoying refreshing drinks and live entertainment in this casually elegant, historic setting.  All while supporting a great cause!  (Don't forget to share this event on Facebook, Twitter or other social networks!)

Yoshi's SF Supports Local Songwriters and Bread & Roses

Songwriters Unplugged Showcase IV

and CD Release  - Yoshi's SF

Monday, May 30th

San Francisco’s home and hub for local songwriters continues with Songwriters Unplugged Showcase IV taking place on Monday 5/30 at the San Francisco Yoshi’s main stage. Among the featured performers on the CD are Bread & Roses musicians: Francesca Lee, Jeff Campbell, Megan Slankard and Garrin Benfield. It will be the fourth culminating event of an ongoing weekly series in Yoshi’s Lounge which, for the past 2 years, has featured over 200 local and national songwriters, and brought  this format to the Yoshi's main stage in March of 2010. Feeling like a family, working in a collective atmosphere, the Showcase has made the unplugged format into a combination of the 60's San Francisco folk movement and cutting edge modern songwriting.

The event, co-produced by Bay Vibes and Sonic Zen Records continues its tradition of honoring and supporting local songwriters by releasing “Songwriters Unplugged - Volume 1,” a compilation album of the best live recordings from previous events. Proceeds from the CD will be donated to a different local music non-profit every year, starting with BREAD & ROSES in 2011!
